Rail services back to normal after landslide
The stretch of railway between Antequera and Granada on the Sevilla-Almería line, which was closed yesterday after a landslide blocked the tracks, has been reopened this morning.
The earth and rocks that slid down the side of the cutting onto the line yesterday caused the derailment of one train’s leading carriage, resulting in two people being slightly hurt.
Rail services on the line were re-established at 7 o’clock this morning, but with a 20kmph speed restriction along the affected stretch of track between Salinas and Loja.
95 passengers were on board the train when the landslide caused the minor derailment yesterday and they were all moved onto a bus to continue their journey by road.
The landslide is being blamed on the recent heavy rains in the area.
